If I were a tourist looking for il bel paese Polignano a Mare (the beautiful town), I would google it like this, with all these question marks.
Polignano is very special, also in terms of parking lots. Before coming to Polignano, you should know what these colors of stripes mean:
- BLUE STRIPES: everyone can park here with a fee;
- YELLOW STRIPES (starting from the 25th of April to 30th September): only residents are allowed, everyone else will get ticketed. Neither the hazard lights will save you! (From October to April these stripes change in color: they get white. Magical!);
- WHITE STRIPES (my favorite): these parking lots are reserved to the champions, those who win the challenges and earn this free parking by eliminating competition, fighting with grit against the rival driver, who had been driving into oncoming traffic in order to conquer the lot. Legend has it, that in summer a vehicle has not left the white stripes lot yet that another car occupies it right after.
Looking for parking in the center of Polignano a Mare could get into a bold and fearless mission, in particularly when you are not a local and you find yourself in crowded summer times.
Fortunately, there are magic parking areas which even if are far from the center, they are going to let you spare time, patience and swearing.
