An itinerary through the churches of the city is really interesting. The church of Santa Maria Assunta which is located in Piazza dell'Orologio is the best known. It is also called Mother Church and would have been born on a pagan temple built around 104 BC. by the Roman consul Caius Marius.
Worth seeing are the crib chapel of Stefano da Putignano, a national monument to which the State Mint has also dedicated a stamp, and the treasure of San Vito in the central apse. Then there are the church of San Cosma and Damiano, the Calvary, the Church of the Trinity and that of the Nativity, all places rich in history useful for better understanding the soul of the city.
