In Polignano a Mare were born famous artists like Domenico Modugno and Pino Pascali.
On May 31st 2009, on the waterfront dedicated to Domenico Modugno, a bronze statue standing 3 meters tall was unveiled. The statue designed and sculpted by the contemporary sculptor Hermann Mejer, is the simbol of the town.
Another famous artist of Polignano is Pino Pascali. In his works the artist used the roots of Mediterranean culture.
The Pino Pascali Foundation is the only contemporary art museum in Puglia; a part of a permanent collection, there are also temporary exhibitions and the Pino Pascali competition.
