What to do on a day-trip in Polignano a Mare!

Following the advices on how to arrive and where to park in Polignano, here you are our guide about what to do on a day-trip in Polignano a Mare

A lot of activities depend on the season, yet there are some places that, according to the locals, you absolutely must visit, whatever the weather is: with the sun, with the rain or with the wind.

These must-sees are: Lama Monachile, lo Scoglio dell’Eremita, le balconate del centro storico (the terraces in the old town), San Vito, l’Abbazia di San Vito, Costa Ripagnola. These are very characteristic spots, that you can only find in Polignano. Particularly Costa Ripagnola, maybe the less known of this list: a strip pf land close to the coast interspersed with trulli here and there; you can get there by car passing through the slip road on the coastline (direction Bari).

Note taken? Well, once you have marked these must-see spots, let’s see what you can do on a daytrip in Polignano, weather permitting.

SUMMER

That’s obvious: andatevi a fare un tuffo! (go take a dive!). In our article Beachs of Polignano you will find all the places where it is possible to dive or to take a swim in these crystal-clear amazing waters, with a breathtaking view that will remain in your heart.

Take a boat tour, it will be two exciting hours! If instead you suffer from seasickness, choose a tour in the Ape Calessino :)

Taste the Caffè Speciale born in Polignano!

Enjoy a good artisan ice-cream sitting on a sea-view bench.

Eat local km-0 products that the whole world is jealous of: focaccia bread, panzerotti, bombette meat, fave e cicorie (broad beans and chicory), Polignano carrots, raw sea food …

See sunrise by the sea! When the sky clears up and from the horizon the sun rises is a very magical moment… And seagulls, together with some roosters from a near countryside, sing along a very special and unique good morning.

IF IT IS NOT TOO HOT

Go take a walk!

Around the old town and the tiny little streets of the city. From Lungomare Grotta Ardito to Lungomare Domenico Modugno. For promenades lovers, you can walk from the centre of Polignano towards San Vito through the pedestrian path and reach out to the Abbazia or Port’Alga by walk. Once arrived in Port’Alga and you are still into walking you can head towards Monopoli scogli scogli, that means always remaining by the coast, and you reach Grotta di Sella or even Torre Incina. You can also arrive to the countryside in the area Santa Barbara and lose yourself in the green or walk till the archeological dig.

WHAT TO DO IN CASE OF RAIN

In case of rain there are still things to try!

You can visit:
- The Pino Pascali contemporary art museum;
- Churches;
- Peppino Campanella’s atelier.

Furthermore, you can watch a movie in Cinema Vignola, or chilling out with a SPA path.

Here you are some suggestions for a day-trip in Polignano. Our advice? Take it easy, enjoy every moment, breath sea air and enjoy every spot of meraviglia.

You know, life is slow here.
